The River Avon provides the ideal setting for much river activity. There are plenty of public moorings in Evesham and supplies can be obtained from marinas in the town. There are footpaths along the banks of the river, making for an enjoyable interlude away from the bustle of the town.
HAMPTON FERRY
Hampton Ferry operators claim that it is the 'only rope-operated ferry in the world'.
The ferry operates during the summer as a pleasant and short way to Evesham for the residents of Hampton.
FISHING
Evesham is renowned for its coarse fishing (perch, chub, roach and bream). Licences are available from all Post Offices. Permits to fish from the Crown and Corporation Meadows are issued by the Fishing Bailiff on site whilst permits to fish at Hampton Ferry are available from the Ferry Office. If you are under 16 or disabled and would like to fish from the Workman Gardens then please ring 01386 48969
ANGLING
Visiting anglers must take home all surplus line, hooks and bait and are not allowed to use lead weights as these can cause serious problems to the many swans and other wildlife on the river if discarded on the banks. The Evesham Anglers Association is pleased to give advice to visiting anglers.
Evesham hosts many fishing contests during the season including the Wychavon Angling Festival in August each year.
