 Within
the immediate area of the town there are excellent
golfing facilities open to visitors. The area
provides excellent opportunities for walking
and cycling.
The
Crown and Corporation meadows as well as the
Abbey Park offer excellent facilities for
families with children to relax, picnic and
let off steam. The adventure playground in
the Crown Meadow provides a protected safe
area for younger children to play. The Abbey
Park has a crazy golf course and a children's
paddling and boating pool, once one of the
Abbey fish ponds. Recapture those Sunday afternoons
in the park of yesteryear, and come and listen
to the concerts during the summer season.

For
the more active, the Leisure Centre provides
a swimming pool, squash and badminton courts
and a fully equipped gymnasium. Fishing permits
are available to fish from the riverside meadows
and fishing for the disabled is reserved from
the Workman Gardens.
